The Sensex today closed at 16015 down by 71 points and the Nifty closed flat at 4830.The other Asian markets were on the decline as well Nikkei at 12604 down 103 points and China closed at 3411 down by 196 points.
HSI closed slightly on the higher side at 22664 up by 48 points.The European markets had a slightly better day with FTSE closing at 5718 up by 58 points,DAX at 6569 up by 78 points and CAC 40 at 4718 up by 42 points.
US markets were also on the decline with the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down nearly 110 points, or 0.9 percent, at 12422.86 Wednesday. The Nasdaq shed 0.7 percent and the S&P 500 relinquished 0.9 percent.
Crude oil surged above 106$ a barrel after an EIA report showed crude inventories held steady at 311.8 million barrels last week. Economists had expected a 1.7 billion-barrel build.
